Look and listen
I spend time in the operation before I say anything: watching service, talking to the crew, eating in the restaurant, checking a cabin. Three days on board tell you more than thirty pages of reports.

Where I learned
the trade
16 years on Europe’s rivers
A place prepared. A guest expected.
01 / Why
Guests hand you their time. A week of holiday, sometimes the trip they have been looking forward to for years. I have never stopped finding that a serious thing to be trusted with.
Sixteen years of running hotel operations on river ships taught me that a good stay is rarely one grand gesture. It is the cabin that’s ready early, the waiter who remembers, the small problem solved before the guest knew there was one.
None of that happens by luck. It happens because someone thought about it beforehand and the team knew what to do. That is the work I do now, with operators who want their guests to feel it.

Guests are looked after by people. So the people have to be looked after first.
Good service starts
before the guest arrives.
02 / How I work
I don’t arrive with a ready-made manual. I start in the operation, with your team, and we work out together what needs to change and how to make it hold.
I spend time in the operation before I say anything: watching service, talking to the crew, eating in the restaurant, checking a cabin. Three days on board tell you more than thirty pages of reports.
Then we decide together what needs attention now and what can wait. Priorities, responsibilities and standards that fit the concept, the budget and the people you actually have.
I stay while the changes bed in. Your managers try them in real service, we adjust, and I step back once the team can carry it without me. That is the point.
03 / What I can help with
A new opening, a service that has slipped,
or a team that’s ready for more.
Decide what the stay should feel like, then design it moment by moment.
Fix what slows the team down, so good service becomes routine.
Give the operation a voice before the first guest arrives.
Managers and crews who know what good looks like and feel trusted to deliver it.
Your operation, seen the way a guest sees it.
Written for your operation, practised in service, handed to your supervisors.

Meet Carmen Mladenovic
I spent sixteen years running hotel operations on Europe’s rivers: twelve with Uniworld, a year and a half with Viking, and then building the hotel side of Transcend from the drawings up.
So I know what a season feels like from the inside. The mid-season crew change, the supplier who lets you down, the guest who needs more than the standard allows for. That is the experience I bring to your operation, and I bring it in person.

Each taught me something the others couldn’t.
Twelve years making an all-inclusive promise feel personal, on ships that each have a character of their own.
